Uploading DOCX documents
Uploading DOCX documents to Phrase is as easy as uploading any other file format, just navigate to More -> Upload file in your project.
Preview DOCX documents before import
After you hit Import you will land on a preview, where you can view the strings we automatically extracted from your file. If you don't mind key names or working with keys in the case of translating docx documents, you can just click Continue to be redirected to the Translation Editor immediately and use the unique ID we generated for this. However, this is a good opportunity to either search for existing keys and connect them (see This is a key name) or create new custom key names.
By clicking on Edit Key you can open the key settings to configure it further, e.g. by adding tags or a character limit to it.
Translate DOCX documents
Once you have uploaded your file you can translate your document in the Translation Editor, where you will find the keys you created during the upload process.
They appear in the order according to the file you've just uploaded, to give you the context you need.
You can also use the Oldest first / Newest first filter in the Translation Editor to have your HTML content appear in the right order that gives you the possibility to basically read through your document from top to bottom.
Oldest first: Since Phrase processes a document top to bottom, this filter puts the keys that were processed first on top.
Newest first: This filter will basically turn your document upside down, in case you want to tackle the bottom part of your document first.
Download translated DOCX documents
When you finished translating , you can of course download your translated DOCX document. Go to the Languages tab in your project and use the Download button on your desired language. There you have to select the format (DOCX) and subsequently the document you wish your download to be based on.
Or go to the Documents section (More -> Documents) click on Download next to a specific file and simply select the language.
